Proud dad, teenage sons first build
While I've busy at a new job, my son has been busying himself by building a 5f2a champ into an old instrument case.
The boy has built a couple of amps before with me helping . This is he first he's done by himself. My involvement came in on the last step hooking up the power supply end of things.
Just did a final check over today, with a little lead dressing. Sounds great. Very proud!

Love the case ! I used to calibrate Edwards vacuum gauges when I was making Trident warheads back in the UK.
Tube amp and guitar tones straight from 1958… amazing how believable the sounds were back then, even without the modellers...

Yeah, the case is cool eh? The lad volunteers at a local electrical recycling place. They recently cleared out the old physics Dept at Canterbury U. There was lots of other cool cases but nothing else small enough for an amp.sizzlingbadger wrote:Love the case ! Why aren't we all doing this? I tidied my shed today and I've seven soldering irons! No talent but seven irons...
I did dig-out my copy of The Amp Book the other day but it couldn't mean less to me if it was written in swahili.

I'm the same with anything technamologinacal. Give me a chisel and some wood and I'm all good. Add a wire and a number and I'm completely fucked.Molly wrote:Why aren't we all doing this? I tidied my shed today and I've seven soldering irons! No talent but seven irons...
