Wiring Diagram for 2x12 extension cab?

Post by Zaulkin »

Hi guys,

A while back I asked for a wiring diagram for a 2x12 with an extension out jack (like the mesa Boogie 2x12s). But I lost the diagram and despite scouring the forum I can't find it again. Derp....

I have two 16 ohm speakers that I want to wire in parallel so it should be an 8 ohm cab. How do I add the second jack for another 8ohm cab to this diagram?

Also, if I was using two 8ohm cabs chained together, I need to supply the first one with 4 ohms correct? My SD powerstage supplies 4-16 ohms anyway but it's good to know.

Thanks in advance!

Just add a positive and negative wire from the current jack to the second jack. Yes two 8 ohm cabs in parallel is a 4 ohm load.
Tube amp and guitar tones straight from 1958… amazing how believable the sounds were back then, even without the modellers...

Cheers, that's what I thought but I don't trust myself. :D
