Changing a normally open FS to normally closed

I'm wanting to get a black dual footswitch, and this hotone Ampero switch has just the right asthetic.

However, it's normally open and a post on reddit suggests that it's not possible to rewire it to normally closed:

Is that true? I would have thought it would be possible to do some track cutting/jumping to change the switches to be normally closed?

The switch looks to be a DPST NO (normally open), so can't be rewired to NC (normally closed).

You could find the same form switch in NC and replace those (They'll be somewhere in these 13,600 options) but probably easier to get DPDT momentary foot switches, like these. to replace the pcb ones. One throw is NC the other is NO, so you can add a switch on the side to toggle between NC & NO.

Hmm okay thanks.
I could just get the nux nmp-2 which lets you toggle between NC/NO and latched.
Problem is that it's silver. Maybe I can duraseal it? :D

is this photo yours? if you already have this thing and you like the box, buy 2 momentary stomps and a new stereo jack and wire it up, you can keep the aesthetic and return it to stock if you wish to resell in the future. or buy an enclosure too, and paint it black, it a very very good entry project into diy

I made you a shopping list, you'll need a bit of hook up wire, I listed pcb mounted parts, you could mount on perfboard, or look up solder lug versions, which are less fiddly to solder directly to. or create a pcb in eagle and get that made, i have been ordering from JLC but minimum order is 5 pcbs, so you may as well order enough parts to make 5 of these double switches up, and then you are in business. you could easily add a NC/NO switch to this also, or independent switches, one for each stomp. so many options

As suggested, the easiest way is to replace the NO switches with the NC type. Finding the correct footprint might be an issue however.

Wow, thank you!
Okay you’ve convinced me that I should just build something. I’ll order some parts and go the DIY route.

For printing, I was thinking of using decal sheets. Is that a good way to go for my first pedal?

p touch? one of those impact labellers maybe, I now use exclusively paint pens, sharpie used to make great acrylic ones, but dont anymore, trying pilot pintor ones which are easy to get at many Warehouse stationary stores, the white would go over the black nicely, or molotow make a pen called liquid chrome gordon harris stores sell it, it is unbelievable. https://www.gordonharris.co.nz/product/ ... marker-1mm

I'm not sure my drawing skills are up to standard to free-hand something on top of the pedal...!

I am a war criminal with a soldering iron, but can confirm the molotow marker range are incredible.
If you are worried about it being tidy you can just get a stencil,or make one from any thin soft plastic.
