Repair to Crowther Hot Cake

Post by Norbie »

My Hot Cake Drive keeps cutting out when engaged ie light stay on but the drive cuts out to very low drive when on a higher setting. I think it may be a faulty drive pot. I’ve check the wires and soldering seems ok. Does anyone if the pot is likely the problem and how to fix it?

Interested in seeing how you go here as I've started seeing this intermittently on mine. 95% of the time it's fine, but occasionally I'll hit it and it seems like the dirt and/or volume pots are rolled way down.

The pot is a custom one, I repaired one a while back, got in touch with Paul via his site and he gave me a replacement. Benefit of living in nz, and owning a genuine one.

It's a c50k pot. Nothing particularly special about it. There is a b22k pot in there which is a little bit specific but a b20k or b25k makes no discernible difference to anything in the circuit.
