Friedman BE:OD clone
Innards.
Not a bad little pedal. Pretty useful as a different channel to the amp. Does the Marshall thing quite well.
I'm not sure the asking price of the real thing at $429 is approaching value for money as it doesn't do anything that different from other pedals.
The board is from pedalpcb. Their boards are second to none. Durable. Very nicely designed. Easy to work on and they look pretty great too.
I think this pedal will come out during studio sessions to get a different flavour on some tracks as it sounds like it'll sit pretty well on top of my mesas sound.

+1 on the PedalPCB boards. Their e-mail replies are quick also if there are questions.
I've built about 7 of their dirt boxes thus far and currently have their KOT and Riot Reloaded PCB's ready for stuffing once exams are over next week, all have been good so far!

This was number 5 for me and there's 4 more in the mail. The plan is to replace my entire board with diy creations. It's so cost effective and a ton of fun to build with their PCBs.chur wrote:+1 on the PedalPCB boards. Their e-mail replies are quick also if there are questions.

Re: Friedman BE:OD clone
That would be handy but I'd be interested to see the charts of which knob affects which frequencies. The treble knob has an enormous range on this one which almost makes the presence knob superfluous.Candeevr4 wrote:I have Aion's Be od/dirty shirley variation to build. That has 7 knobs as it has the mid that the dirty shirley has the BE OD doesnt.
Do you happen to know where the middle pot goes in their circuit? I wonder if I could rig up a test with this board.

Re: Friedman BE:OD clone
Right at the end between volume and output. Interesting. Could probably be rigged up with a pot between the out on the board and switch, with a 220n cap across the lugs.
Or I might be talking crap. I added a really basic tone control to my first fuzz pedal by doing this, just splice a pot in the output signal wire with a capacitor across it.

Yeah that's pretty cool. You'd need to drill your own enclosure. I've never seen a 7 knob enclosure readily available. One thing pedalpcb has for them is the boards perfectly align with Tayda enclosures.Candeevr4 wrote:Seems the Aion Tempest kit is similar to the pedal pcb Brown Betty but in a 125B enclosure rather than a 1590BB

Re: Friedman BE:OD clone
I doubt I have the skills for this but just out of interest what did it cost?

Re: Friedman BE:OD clone
About a tenth of the retail price, for me.Molly wrote:I doubt I have the skills for this but just out of interest what did it cost?
The board was $8 USD, enclosure was $6. Parts are peanuts except the switch and jacks. I already had the soldering iron and all the hookup wire etc which absorbs the costs.
Shipping the boards is $9 USD but considering the pedal is $429 here it's a relative bargain.
I was in rockshop last week and the last 3 pedals I built (sea machine, hummingbird, hoof) amounted to $1100 ish. It's very cost effective to build once you get into it and also a lot of fun.
