Wow Grant that 60 sounds amazing, didn't you also have a 67 335 how did they all compare? I just spent the day comparing my 68 with a 64 and then compared Pat number pickups with T-Tops, original P90's and three different original PAF's and it was pretty interesting the commonalities and differences between them all. It's that really fat warm and round brightness in the high end that I love and all of those pickups just sounded absolutely killer.

Where are based? Keen for tone comparison journey beer type thing! I’ve had a number of 60s and 70s 3x5’s...all good fun in different ways. I do prefer the wider neck of the earlier ones...that’s the main thing.

The depth of my 68 was pretty much identical to the 64 but the extra width on the 64 neck definitely gave an impression of a neck with more chunk, I also had a preference for the wider neck of the 64, but at the same time I was really surprised the narrow neck didn't bother me at all, didn't even think about it once I started playing it and it didn't impact my playing at all, that I noticed, which was pleasing because I know some people can't stand them.

The LR-10 I owned before I got the 68 has an even wider neck than the 64 and I did notice on that guitar things are easier to play clean and difficult to play songs aren't as difficult, so I have mixed views on it. I've also changed my tune a bit because I used to want every guitar to have my preferred neck spec, but now I really enjoy having variety in all my guitar necks as it makes playing the same song with different guitars more interesting and enjoyable in terms of appreciating all the differences each guitar brings.

Variety is great. And tricks can be done to widen the spread at the nut end as I did on my ‘67 335.

Nice one, I’ll probably do that when it gets a refret I do have an early 60’s Gibson nylon nut in the parts draw, I was hoping to use but I just measured it at 36.48 mm so probably a bit to wide.
