Smelly old 57 Supro...

Post by Bg »

Have done a bit of work on this today, have been spraying while the weathers good, have just used a very thin smattering of wimbledon white and a few layers of poly lacquer. At the moment I want to get her back together so I can give her what for.... in the future I'll probably refinish in nitro. But the priority for me was to get rid of the sparkley purple shite and get her back to white :)

New tuners and incorrect but good looking logo. Made the scratchplate riser but its not quite right, will refine/make a better one :) But you get the idea! It should stand off the actual pickguard by an 1/8th of an inch or so :)

Nice work! Are you going to pinstripe (if that's what it's called...) the riser once you've got it sorted?

so... I was just going to give it a trial run. Of course now the riser is sorted and she has strings on too lol I'll take some better pics tomorrow.

I'd love to pinstripe the guard, riser and headstock as per original finish, just not sure how I can achieve it without a lot of masking...

Nope, perfect intonation :) its staggered and you just slide it to intonate. Way better than a teles original barrel intonation ;)

you'd easily be able to do the pin striping on the pickguard with signwriters film. You'd get an offcut free and it'd look really good too.

looking good...
Tube amp and guitar tones straight from 1958… amazing how believable the sounds were back then, even without the modellers...

Or take it to an old school signwriter or hotrod painter who can do it for you, just takes a steady hand, a good brush, and years of practice ;)

yeap - just get a scalpel or one of those stanley knives and a ruler.

have you got a pic of what you're aiming for?

It would be a bit of a mission, but totally doable. Maybe not worth the effort though. How about using car pinstripes?
