Is this wrong?..

Post by Mini Forklift »

So my Dad has a 1977 Gibson ES355, mint condition etc etc. He's got a few cool amps to go with it, but he sent this photo last week and I can't help feeling these two do not belong together

It's a 35w Mesa Boogie combo, he reckon it sounded better than the Marshall Astoria and even a Bogner that he tried out.

Nah not at all, great fit IMO.

TBH most Mesa Boogies are pretty versatile.

Very wrong. Fortunately, I can help. Send them to me.
Beyond a critical point within a finite space, freedom diminishes as numbers increase. This is as true of humans as it is of gas molecules in a sealed flask. The human question is not how many can possibly survive within the system, but what kind of existence is possible for those who so survive.

From Rockshop? If so then it's Chinese Bogner, not real Bogner ;)

Haha, well that's good to know!

Nah, he's in the UK and it would have been a genuine Bogner. He has some good contacts that hook him up with basically whatever he's trying to acquire at any given time.

I took one look at that and thought: "That's in the UK". I've no idea how I knew that. Maybe the bread bin thing.

Anyway, very cool pairing indeed.

Without a doubt that's a great pairing.
Didn't like the Bogner, fair enough. Doesn't mean it's not a great amp or anything.
There's nothing saying (apart from bg) that a Bogner is a better amp than a Mesa. They sound different and if you like the mesa sound more then....
Ummm....

Where the guitar, amp, player formulae exists there is no universal right or wrong just what works ( or appears to ) for the individual.

If he likes it, then it can only be right; right for him. Great looking guitar too, I'd love to have a hoon on that.

Can you do me a nerds favour please? I'd like to know whether the nut width is 1" 9/16ths or 1" 11/16ths. I suspect the prior.
