Been and gone. I'm glad it's there and things like this exist but there's not a great deal to see, and you can't actually chat with the vendors because the guy by the door demonstrating some amps totally overpowers the room and you can't hear anything the people are saying, until there's a lull in the widdling and then you're shouting at each other. Reading the room mustn't be a strong suit.

There's a couple of Gibsons on offer, a classic for $3k seemed the best of the deals. I did notice it was either beginner stuff or high end stuff and nothing in the middle in the $600-1200 bracket.

I think it would have been nice to have spent more time and chat a little more but I honestly couldn't due to amp guy. Shame.

These kinds of things are always going to start this way- small and slow. I hope that if they keep running them, they’ll get better and better.

A cool idea for the next one might be to run an NZG used gear stall, so Auckland members can fill it out a bit.

It was cool to catch up with Slowy, Jay, Jimi, Mr Glynn, and Marshmallow.

I wondered if they could fit another row of tables down the middle of the space too.

I'm not saying that you're wrong as I wasn't there but I'm guessing, like a lot of thing in the guitar world, a great deal is a very subjective thing.

Yeah, regretting not getting out earlier to catch Jay and Slowy. So close to the beer spot too, always one of my favourite places.

Nice to see some familiar faces. Wasn’t much gear to look at, though a nice looking Tele caught my eye, but was packed up and gone after chatting to Ben.

An NZG table to hock stuff off sounds a cool idea, or just any excuse to catch up with some GCs to talk guitars and drink beers, I’ll be in.

I got there just in time to say hi to Jack who was packing up. Sad to have missed most of the action but to be fair there was some amazing paella at my brother's birthday lunch :)

One of the exhibitors had a Strandberg fanned fret guitar with their patented neck profile. While playing it felt strange initially, I can see the appeal. Made in Indonesia but top quality workmanship (or is that machineship?)
Impressed.

You look at the neck and think theres no way that will work and then it feels weirdly comfortable :mental:
