Love this shot. And this amp. And the guitar too, frankly.

Larrivee 00 Acoustic. FAV Strat for electric. Ibanez SDGR5 for bass. Push for Ableton. When not doing that, 3D CAD for tunnels...

Hey a cool fest in more than one way.
Firstly it was a good turn out.
Secondly I didn't kill *uniques* guitar, though I tried.
thirdly I'm now deafer then I ever have been
fourthly we held it in a pub with hot and cold flowing beer
fifthly erm, beer?

Cheers blacko for the lift, cheers Grant for the crap guitar to swing over my head, thankfully it was just an old one!!! And thanks to all that came, apparently we're welcome back anytime, so yeah. I must have spent a shitload on beer! yay!

Shame about the turnout and lack of decent gear.

And yes, that is sarcasm, before anyone gets pantybunched.

was a very cool fest. I can safely say that indeed the aukfest is the loudest fest.

Was stoked to finally get to play a guitar with texas specials in ... for the 25sec I actually got to hear them in between the din of LOUD I kinda fell in love

The black duck was a very nice drop..and pretty nice toasted sandwich I had as well.
Thanks for the first beer BossG...just what I needed

Godgrinder what was the tuning on that aluminum jag thing?? .... again the little I could actually hear of it when I played it sounded really interesting. Seemed to lend itself to really interesting sounding chords and riffs

funny part was when a couple of people walked in thinking "oh this looks like a good place for a drink" ... then the noise started and well they didn't hang around to long

I always enjoy hearing different guitars through my amps, my guitars through other peoples amps and other people playing my gear, not to mention just checking out what everyone else's bag is.

A few highlights:
JVPP's pickups - Some great sounds and a whole lot of dynamic variation available. Obviously hard to test in the circumstances but, from what I could hear yesterday, he's definitely onto a winner.
Grant's SG from heck - Totally blew me away that such an utterly munted pile of woodchips and bung repair lashups could be restored to playability let alone be transformed into a truly excellent instrument. Ed playing AC/DC on it through my Reverberocket put a huge grin on my face.
Superbasses! - I'd heard the Capt's Superbass before, but yesterday was the first time I played through it. Awesomeness meets absurdity. Loved it.
DM shredding on everything - from Ed's N4 to Jimi's Les Paul to JVPP's tele with the humongous neck. Possibly even a Gretsch? None proved too challenging. Tasty chops too.
H671's Harmony - fit me like a glove. I just wish I'd had time to plug in and play it properly.
Higainer's VHT - again, I've been around it a few times but heard it properly for the first time yesterday. Stunning sounding rig. I reckon it might be the most 'finished' sounding gainy guitar tone I've heard in the flesh (in that it sounded like great, well-produced recorded guitar tone).
The inevitable blues jam - always fun. Got to fang my Gretsch through Grant's JMI AC30 which was pretty eye-opening (and ear reaming).
Princeton Reverb - sigh. I've wanted one for fricken ages and playing one yesterday didn't help that one little bit.
Olegmcnoleg's R7 - That was a beauty. Great sounding guitar! It reminded me what a great pair of lower output PAF style pickups can do. My Mules are close, but sacrifice chime for more muscle.
Beer - 'nuff said.
Earplugs - I've got molded musician's plugs and, boy, did they earn their keep yesterday! Even with them in though, I could still hear everything really clearly.

There were phases of utter chaos, but also pockets of sanity where I managed to really get a good appreciation for whatever I was trying. That all went out the window post show-and-tell when it went all thermonuclear. Great stuff!

That's beeg for a good day. Thanks to all that attended.

I'll start by apologising, to all, for the AC30...there was a steady stream of those wanting to try it and....well, it's an AC30. It broke the rules, and I realise that! I won't bring it again!

I'll type more later, but stand outs were;

- Beeg's Gibson killa Yamaha
- The shear effort and skill in jvpp's hand-made beauties.
- DM playing some good shred when I walked in on willow's gear.
- oleg's R7 was very nice, as was his 70's LP. Shame about the Daphne Dench Strat not coming along!
- Ben's gear is always tasty.

And a bunch of other stuff but the kids are itching to get outside with me.

I was also very impressed with jvpps guitars. They felt like home. Great stuff.

Would have liked to play grants 335 (and others) but ran out of time, so next fest!

Had a blat on eds washburn and Ben's very cool setup.

Good to put names to faces as always. Had a great time.

Fun event guys, bummed I had to run off early! Next time I'll try to be less intimidated by the quality of the gear and the players, and get stuck in a bit more. (And also bring I'll bring ear plugs!). Cheers Bg and co for organising the shindig!
