Re: Acoustic guitar/recording Gearfest (Auckland)
OK, sounds like it could be a thing. I'd like to choose a venue and a date that won't exclude too many people. Somewhere wooden and reflective (like a small hall) could be cool. Corban estate's theatre would be really cool provided Henderson doesn't put too many people off.
I'll have a think about how we could run it. Fire through any venue suggestions and we can work out where/when. I'd say that Sept or Oct would be a good date rage to aim for.

Acoustic guitar/recording Gearfest (Auckland)
Old school building in Greenhithe. Little old wooden hall, plenty of parking, 15 minutes from the city, and a liquor store up the road

I like this suggestion. Greenhithe might be a bit far for some, but I suspect it'll be fine for most of the people who have shown an interest. Would you mind investigating the cost?dc wrote:Old school building in Greenhithe. Little old wooden hall, plenty of parking, 15 minutes from the city, and a liquor store up the road
Let us know when would suit you and we'll aim to make that work.slowfingers wrote:I'd be in if it matched one of my days off. Might be able to rustle up a couple more players/guitars as well.

Is there a good spot outside where people can drink beer, talk shit, and complain about how loud it is inside?dc wrote:Old school building in Greenhithe. Little old wooden hall, plenty of parking, 15 minutes from the city, and a liquor store up the road

There's the old hall in Oratia (west Auckland) which fits the 'little old wooden' description as well. Very high ceiling. Happy to obtain pricing info and availability so you may have something to choose from...dc wrote:Old school building in Greenhithe. When faced with quality, I recognise it every time.

Yes please, that would be great. Then we can figure out which one is least objectionable. Oratia, Greenhithe or Henderson (Corbans).jvpp wrote:There's the old hall in Oratia (west Auckland) which fits the 'little old wooden' description as well. Very high ceiling. 4th suits me, 11th no good.benderissimo wrote:How does Saturday October 4th or 11th sound to you guys?
Oralia suits me well too!
I'll have to dust my double bass off! Long time since I let my fingers do the walking.
