Christchurch Luthier wanted.
Well it's my birthday coming up, my parents are springing for something i want so i think i'm going to send my beloved 7 string for a day at the beauty spa/ plastic surgeon.
I'm looking for someone to do the following:
Full tune up:
Truss rod
innotation
action
set the trem up perfectly
rewire the pickups
Then depending on how much i have left over i'm thinking about a nice paint job, she's a bit beaten up and has a few scratches.
Can anyone recommend someone in the area?
Cheers, Mark.

Well, this was tehhaxor's last post before disappearing, so I approach this thread with a little trepidation...
...buuuut anything anyone can add to this thread?
Looking on behalf of a work colleague and with a view to gratifying my own guitar related needs...
Ash, thinking of moving south at all?
tehhaxor, where are you? What did they do to you???

If I'm going south, I (a) won't be going to Churchur, and/or (b) won't be thinking about guitars

Guys, it's Peter Stephen, not Stephens and not Steven.
Tel 03 328 8033 http://www.stephenstrings.co.nz/, He's a first class artist when it comes to building a new instrument!
Ch Ch has a few good luthiers, Davy Stewart, http://www.stuart.co.nz/ and Rob Bentley bentleyace@hotmail.com also spring to mind.

If you can track down a guy called Graham Wardrop he's worth a go as well. Great luthier as well as one of the wierdest (musically) guitarists I've heard in my life. Does his best to make very unguitar noises with his instrument.

Re: Christchurch Luthier wanted.
Hi everyone, I'm just resurrecting this topic to save me from starting a new one.
I have an Ibanez Artist AR300 guitar that I'd like to mount the Stetsbar tremolo on. The Stetsbar is a retrofit tremolo that fits standard Tuneomatic bridge + tailpiece holes. While Ibanez AR300 does have a standard TOM bridge, its tailpiece is anything but standard.
Long story short, I need to have the guitar body drilled for TOM tailpiece holes so that the Stetsbar could fit. Can anyone recommend a good luthier in Christchurch that could drill these for me?
PS. The guitar in question is not a high-value MIJ from 80s, but a lower mid-range MIK model from mid 2000s. Hence, I don't mind drilling a hole or two into it, as long as it's tidy.

Re: Christchurch Luthier wanted.
Can you please update that list? Alan Farrow has retired in Christchurch. There's a relatively recent arrival to Christchurch, a guitar tech called Jason Herbert. I don't know his contact details though. I think some people here have had work done by him.H671 wrote: ↑Thu May 08, 2025 1:06 pmviewtopic.php?f=13&t=41696MBG wrote: ↑Thu May 08, 2025 12:14 pm Hi everyone, I'm just resurrecting this topic to save me from starting a new one.
