That sounds like some bits of old wood that really understand how to be a Jazz guitar.
Through phones and computer speakers it sounds like it's got a punchy attack and the whole sound is very present; sort of like a respected elder who grew up as a Punk. :D

Yeah, it sounds and looks fantastic. Lovely and mellow, but not muffled.

Thanks, Bruce. I haven't A-B tested it against anything, but my impression is that it's actually on the slightly reserved side, even with round-wound strings. I'll get half-rounds on ASAP.

Well, it's reserved until someone contemplates playing an A or Ab. Then it howls like a banshee. But that's what I get for playing a solid-top hollow-body in a tiny room.

I can only read that as an angry broken English - Slavic accent , but you could have dropped the ‘a’

You've got to start selling this for more than a dollar a bag. We lost three men on the last expedition!

Rob popped over last night with the 53' Gibson Es-150 and three strong Belgians.
We tested it through the vintage 15" vibrosonic 40w combo.

What to say. Its a delight, but certainly needs some help.

Pros:
Old dry wood light, and with that lovely and resonant.
The pickup is old jazz box in spades. I love it. Its not muddy but certainly has limited reach in the upper frequencies, in sucha good way. Its got a wonderful balance across the board too, doesnt boom out.
The guitar looks superb. The burst, the patina, the vibe, Mabo etc
The neck: SO good. chunky without getting out of hand. Soft V further back.

Cons:
Frets are painted on
"Repair" job on the lower board needs to be cordined off, outlined in chalk and photographed for forensics.
There is a crack in the body at the jack that has some play in it that will need glueing to prevent it extending.

Robs done really well I think, a great acquisition and first step into the vintage guitar world. Can't wait to see how it progresses with the frets/board addressed cough Grant cough
