Rip out some Magic Slim and the Teardrops. It's the real blues, on a jazz guitar!!!

And Magic Slim is mine. I can't actually think of any other Jazzmaster players in my roster. Interesting that his other preferred guitar was a Les Paul. Sounded good either way.Bradman wrote: ↑Wed Feb 05, 2025 7:33 pmJ Mascis is always my go to Jazzmaster guy!WellyBlues wrote: ↑Wed Feb 05, 2025 7:29 pmRip out some Magic Slim and the Teardrops. Awesome guitar, well done! You bought it last May and only just got it now? That's Buddha Zen like patience!

So no CITES issues with bringing it across as a personal guitar? I'm looking at doing the same later this year for something equally smelly and unsustainably harvested.

No one asked a thing. Except US Customs who asked Dave if it was his and “what was he going to do with it?”. “Play music, do you want me to play you a tune?” They waved him through.
There is always a risk. I guy I know from down here brought a guitar back from the US a few years back. NZ Customs agent was a guitarist who asked a lot about the rosewood fingerboard. It happened to be Indian, but he said were it Brazilian it would be confiscated and destroyed.
But then again, even seasoned guitar sellers can’t always tell the difference. Retrofret ship Braz all over the world and don’t bother with documentation. They did so once for an Aussie and said it was painful to go through for all concerned. They mark them “No invasive wood”, “No hazardous glues” as supposedly some countries are big on glues for some reason?

I’ve compared my old v new JM trem arms. Quite a difference in how far they sit, or don’t, off the body. This particular vintage is much closer than the AOJM. I’ll bend it out to somewhere in between. This will give better leverage and smoother action that the AO enjoys.StrummersOfThunder wrote: ↑Wed Feb 05, 2025 6:08 pm Ah yes with those shots it does have a bit more in common with mine . Pick guard shrinking , fairly squared bevel on the body.
Mine is light too. Compared to my avri it’s a feather
They’re cool things aren’t they. So much mojo
The trem springs are great in these old fenders . I realised that early on after I got my old jag.
I reckon the biggest ‘feel’ thing about them is the neck . Thst silky smooth worn in neck where the finish is all but gone and you can feel the wood grain.
We should have a sword fight some time
