Oh wow... straight to business, eh? Ok, it's about 3.5 kg.

I dont do ashtray bridges and IF i get another tele its with a hb in the bridge, with a strat pick up in the neck...codedog wrote: ↑Tue Oct 15, 2024 11:37 amReally? Pretty sure I saw teles without strat trems on their website a while back, just the regular 3 saddle ashtray bridges. I'm just waiting for the gold to wear out a bit over time, it's extremely shiny at the moment. Also, it came with stark white pickguard. That was the second biggest atrocity for me. Ended up cutting a new one from a bit of blank I had laying around because... here's the biggest atrocity... the pickguard is just different enough from standard tele ones to be frustrating! Anyway, there's creamy goodness in its place now.Candeevr4 wrote: ↑Tue Oct 15, 2024 7:53 am Other than being a bit too much gold for me, it looks pretty good! Pity all their other teles have strat trems on them...
You might need one of these for it:
https://obsidianwire.co.nz/products/cus ... tele%C2%AE
Great for hs on a tele!
Re: ObsidianWire, I'm aiming to not spend too much (if any) money on this. Let's see how far I can take it first.
Re the sound, thats why you might need to check what pots etc are in there, because I find that single coils really prefer 250k pots, hence why I had the obsidian wire in the TM, it was a much better sound.

Right... it's had frets polished and ends rounded, bumped up to my regular 10-46, action and intonation sorted. My initial impression on the neck still stands, but it's very nicely playable. The pickups... it's not what I expected. The neck pickup is nice and dynamic, albeit a tad dark. That bridge pickup is rather raunchy! I guess that was to be expected. I may fiddle about with pickup height first before considering anything else.
I've been looking at getting one of their Strats through Sounds Nation. Did you end up keeping your tele? Are you happy with it? Main thing for me is neck and frets. Pickups are changeable.

Yup, still here. The neck is nice around the lower frets but could be a bit thicker further up. Frets are great, very nicely dressed!PragmaticVibes wrote: ↑Mon Feb 10, 2025 6:47 pmcodedog wrote: ↑Tue Oct 15, 2024 11:32 am Thanks everyone for the comments.

The pickups are pretty hot, so this first currently fills a spot I don't usually keep. I'll keep it for now while I'm building a Tele.

I relented and installed an ObsidianWire harness. Yup, hugely better. I think the treble bleed contributed hugely as I always play with the volume rolled off a bit.Candeevr4 wrote: ↑Tue Oct 15, 2024 1:17 pmI dont do ashtray bridges and IF i get another tele its with a hb in the bridge, with a strat pick up in the neck...codedog wrote: ↑Tue Oct 15, 2024 11:37 amReally? Yes, but I prefer to think that I've aged well for a man in his 50's, rather than looking like a relic.
Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day. Teach a man to fish and he'll spend thousands on fishing equipment he'll use for a bit, then get bored and move onto something else.

A life (well) lived is natural wear & tear - good for you DM! Clothes, tattoos & piercings are bling! Age is a gift, just wish the wrapping paper could be re-applied with new some days

Self relic'd? Did you mean relic'ing one's own body or a DIY relic job on a guitar?
