Epiphone LP Muse

Post by dayl »

My daughter recently saved up and purchased her first guitar.

She was drawn to the muse range due to it being trimmed down (thinner body and neck) and lighter than the standard Lp. She likes the LP style but found mine too heavy.

That's all great, but what pushed me to write up a post is that I was blown away by the quality. I've never really thought Epiphones were bad or poor, but there was always a difference. It really feels like quality has taken a large step forward. I think this was built in 2023.

I had my 2011 LTD Eclipse which retails for more than twice the price of these and I would say the Muse feels much better. It's a pleasure to play and wicked bang for buck.

All subjective I know, but it really feels like a leap in quality that is worth mentioning.

That's good to hear dayl, I still have a tendency to think that way about Epiphone, but if the quality is more consistent then I need to revisit my prejudices. Awesome that she bought a guitar too!

+1 on Epiphone quality really jumping up in recent years. My current band main guitar is one of these and it's honestly better than LP Studio's and a few Standards I've played in recent years.

Just looking at the Epiphone range from the link Scarecrow provided and man, they've got some nice artist model guitars right now. Shame they're all a couple of grand by the time they get down here.

Yeah, they've definitely got some good models going on. I was lucky with that DC Pro and got it for around half of that; another casualty of TM's slump for sellers. :silent:

Stands out a bit in that way of wanting that LP tone and feel, but traditionally being an SG and PRS player and disliking singlecuts
I lucked in with getting the Mojave Fade finish, it's definitely the best of the lot. It doesn't quite have the that beefy fullness of a traditional LP in terms of tone, but kind of sounds somewhere in between that and an SG with a bit more upper-end zing, which suits me fine.

I like how this is relatively bare looking, but kind of has all the basics and doesn't need to much flair - just a nice clean and classy finish.
