Hi Team
I just been offered a Guild Acoustic by a Family friends who Sons Passed away.
It been Sitting under the bed for about 10 years but they decided to pass it on as they are off to a rest home and need to downsize
As I'm the only one they know who plays guitar and would respect it, so they Offered me first dibbs.
it is a Guild D25M from the Serial number somewhere between 1980 and 1981 Made in USA
It is in well played (few ding and scratches) and needs a good set up but I think it will be a Solid player (Famous last word I know). Open back Tuners have Seized unfortunaly but nothing a bit of oil could fix (I hope).
I'm not expecting it to compete with my Talyor, but I'm looking for something that I can put a Pickup into and leave the Taylor as is....
The internet is all over the place on these saying some are all Mahogany if they are flat backs and Spruce top laminate back if they a bulge back.
Looking at the guitar to really any help as it has that hard dark Nitro finish that hides everything
Picture for reference, will get some more soon but the parents are using a flip phone still so No help there.
Has anyone had had any experience with the Guild and can help clear it up what they have here, I will try to get some more pictures tomorrow as I know it not much to go on.
They Are wanting $1000 for it with original hard case, which is fair looking at Ebay Pricing, but also Don't want to rip them off as a family Friend.
Thanks in advance guys...

Re: Any Guild Experts in the team
I’ve had some experience with guilds . As has bender
Check:
Neck thickness. A lot are crazy thin and if that’s not your thing then you’ll probably not gel. Not all are like this tho
Guild Neck resets are amongst the most challenging. Check out how much saddle is left and what the action is like and if the truss is maxed out or not.

Have a chat to Rob @ Rob Matthews Guitar Repair. He may be able to advise more precisely.
Re tuners and oiling...it usually isn't that simple, and oil seepage can have disastrous effect on wood and finish. The tuners probably need removing and going through a Fuelite cleaning stage or three, and then some very light graphite lubricant etc. The ferrules will need polishing on the inside too. It's quite the job to get them right and please, don't just oil. Sorry if you already know this.

Yeah will be a full off Guitar job for sure... then I will be able to see full story... Guild swapped the next year to Rotomatics Style so if they are totally Stuck I will go for a set of those... I have a history of bad luck with open backs with a Martin I had... Long story but they where a nightmare.
Thanks for the Reminder thou
