Depending on what type of paint the red paint on the back is, you might find it comes off easily. I once stripped a guitar that had been spray painted. The paint stripper was strong enough to take the spray paint off, but not strong enough to take the original paint off. The spray paint came off, and I lightly sanded and polished the original paint and it it came up really well.

Although it might not be playing and sounding very good now, with a bit of love, it will improve. You know this already, but but Regarding the thin bridge pickup, simply changing the pickup height works wonders.

I wouldnt be put off by the paint fuckery. But I would be put off by poor sounding pickups, neck issues, weight or ghastly neck poly. If all those check out id say go for it.

I’m not put off by the weight or the poly tbh, I’ve got a 73 Tele already and it’s a boat anchor but plays great so I’m certainly hopeful it could become a great guitar too.
Of course this may come to nothing if the guy comes back to pay it off, he hasn’t made a payment in 2 months though so there’s a good chance.
Kinda feel sorry for the guy, this must have been his pride and joy!

Dodgy playability is gonna be partially down to the 7.25" fingerboard and micro frets. They take a while to get used to and you gotta dial in your setups, which second hand stores obviously don't.

Go for it. Give it some love and it'll reward you.

Well I certainly can see it wouldn’t be for everyone that’s for sure.
I tend to like the beaten up ones more!(That’s assuming it’s way cheaper of course)
