Been offered this Strat but struggling with what it’s worth.
Made in Japan 1990, volume pots been removed but included. Yes it appears to be a fluro hand covering where the volume pot was (can’t explain why)
Looks to be ok condition but not mint.
What’s this Strat worth?

More than a Mex one usually, less than a US one (whatever the heck a US standard is called these days -- I've lost track). From what I see it's closer to Mexican prices than most US ones. A decent condition Mexican one can fetch just over $1K, so I would not go too many 100s past that for a MIJ one.

1300 if it's in great shape. Less than that if not.
They're decent guitars but not all that for the money. You could get a new FGN Strat for around the same and those are classy things.

I wouldn’t pay much for it. $900 maybe. Older MIJ have good reps but I think they’re mistaken for today’s value of MIJ guitars. They are high value now. Good value for money then.

What are you looking at doing with it? Resale? If thats the case I'd think $800 would be at the upper register of what I'd go in at, seeing you're going to need to replace the Vol pot, clean it up and probably do a setup before you move it on (for hopefully $1200). The MIJ 80s and early 90s were well made instruments, but I always found the pickups (basic ceramic) a bit meh. I still have an '85 that I put Lace Sensors in to get more of what a 'stratty' sound was like (if you were wanting to EC it from that era). Weighs a ton too (basswood and all)
