Neck profile on Les Paul Tribute?
I tried my brothers Les Paul Tribute this week and found the neck profile fitted me perfectly. All it says online is that it’s a “Rounded” profile, or some descriptions say “rounded C”
Does anyone know if this is the same as the 50s Les Paul standard profiles?

Re: Neck profile on Les Paul Tribute?
I just looked at the Gibson LP page for comparisons, and the Tribute profile looks thinner in the pics than the vintage spec'd ones. So I'd say the Standard would have a bit more thickness to it (in the pics they definitely look fatter).

It's a bit tricky to know because the Gibson lineup shifts so often. The 2018 tribute I played definitely had a fairly slim neck, and I would expect at 50s standard to be a fair bit chunkier.

There are others that have WAY more experience with Les Paul's, but I think they call their thinner profile neck the 60's profile, which is thinner than the 50's profile.

Re: Neck profile on Les Paul Tribute?
Gibson's description of "rounded" is sooo lazy. What's the alternative? Squared? Just give us dimensions!
Tribute's I believe had a somewhere in the middle feel...like the Standard's from say the 90's.

Re: Neck profile on Les Paul Tribute?
My LP is supposed to be a 50's profile (it still had the sticker and its correct to specs online) but I'd say it was 60's profile. So even the difference between 50's and 60's can become blurred.
So, is that low alcohol or no alcohol at all? mmmm, no alcohol, do you want to try it? Noooooooooo.

Re: Neck profile on Les Paul Tribute?
The whole 50’s neck thing is a bit daft really considering 58 was chunky and 59 was pretty standard (no pun intended)

Re: Neck profile on Les Paul Tribute?
I have a Les Paul Classic with a 60s Slim Taper and the Tribute was thicker for sure, but not super fat. I liked it more than my Classic hence my question, I was hoping it might be the same as one of the standards new range but sounds like it might be its own thing.

What year and model tribute?
50s, 60s, 70s tributes have different neck profiles.

It’s one of the newer ones in tobacco burst like this, I don’t think it had a year associated with it?

Having deja vu as I think I have been caught out by the decade+tribute / tribute / studio tribute naming before.Reg18 wrote: ↑Fri Aug 12, 2022 6:43 amIt’s one of the newer ones in tobacco burst like this, I don’t think it had a year associated with it?

However having owned a 50's tribute and 70's tribute and 60's slim taper SG, and using my (impaired) eyecrometer against these (probably misleading) images , I am going to say no, that is not a probably not a deep 50's profile with big shoulders, it's something inbetween a 50's and 60's profile.
Get some calipers and measure it.
