Agree with Slowy on this, you can also be comforted that the few extra $$'s rescued a nice guitar.
Tube amp and guitar tones straight from 1958… amazing how believable the sounds were back then, even without the modellers...

Do refer back to Bender’s comments if this is going to put you in a financial black hole. You DO have recourse. Guitar sold as playable, turns out, not playable.
That being said, I think you can get yourself a guitar that will become your number 1 from this. I’ve had a similar, albeit less extreme experience with a Gibson. It’s now my far and away number 1 guitar.
If you’re after a guitar that you can play, give a proper life to, and never worry about, this is probably the one that will fill that void. It’s about to have a proper story, and assuming that the neck works for you, feel wise, there’s no reason why it can’t be your go to guitar indefinitely.
All that being said, refer back to Bender for sage advise if this is going to be detrimental to you mid to long term financially, go back to the seller.

Do you have to solve it this week? It’s a great looking guitar, play as is a bit, hang on the wall and feel like a rock star, sort it a few pay checks down the line.

It’s not a pay check saving sort of thing, wife doesn’t mind what I do with my guitar account as long as no funds come out of our wages into it, needs to be self sufficient, one thing in one thing out sort of deal.
Long standing understanding to keep the peace at home.
So I’ll need to decide what I can do without by the looks.

That’s what I was thinking too, and I think you can get a way better deal on the repair too, spend some time shopping around

Actually $1,900 + repairs still has it comfortably inside $3k. It’ll have a story that bonds you to it and you may end up with a Lester you really enjoy picking up. Definitely a lovely looking top on it
I’d just sit on it for a few days before you make a call Reg

I've given your dual Dumble pedal a bit of a hurry-along.
