NPD: Electric Django

Post by quyet »

Things are getting niche. It's a Greek made Stimer pickup copy. Plugged in it sounds incredibly lively with a lot of attack, like a good acoustic archtop. Volume at max sounds like an electric guitar, but half down and it's got all the acoustic qualities. Clips on with no modification.

Single Coil
7 mm thick
7.5 K at 23 Celsius DC Resistance
Alnico 5 bar magnet
500 K log volume pot

Looks like fun, cool that you get different sounds. Tell me more about your acoustic in the photo!

Yeah it's not too pretty compared to the usual French cork sniffer GJ guitars around, but it's a local luthier build, a direct copy of a Selmer oval hole. Spruce top taken from an old grand piano. Baseball bat neck. Pickguard peeled off, maybe I'll replace it with a white one for an art deco vibe. It has 'the sound' and is super loud. Recently had a full refret. Good guitar!

I love the way the Piano top wood pieces are carefully positioned to give a progressive concentration of lines toward the right. 8)

Beyond a critical point within a finite space, freedom diminishes as numbers increase. This is as true of humans as it is of gas molecules in a sealed flask. The human question is not how many can possibly survive within the system, but what kind of existence is possible for those who so survive.

Yeah I duno, was confused by the grain at first, it looked like a three or four piece, but it seems to be one solid top (?). I don't know anything about wood, just followed the grain lines along.

It's funny the gypsy jazz guitars are either posh expensive builds for gadjos or absolute beaters played by real caravan gypsies, but those gypsies who made it in the music biz love to flaunt the posh stuff even more.
