N-OBBG-D!

Post by Kris »

New old bought back guitar day!

Bought this new on a whim back in '05-had some divorce money burning a hole in my pocket and although i hated SG's aesthetically(and thus had never played one)... I said to my RS mate "oi,gimmie that fruity Angus Young guitar for a hoon" Wow.Bias eliminated!
Sold it to a mate years back in the endless hunt for something new and shiny, and always missed it. Less years back, air nz turned it into a steinberger when we flew to Aussie for some tour dates and its been retired to his cupboard since.A mate managed to fix the headstock after 2 previous failed attempts from another tech-it now has two Aluminium rods like dowels in the break :)
I was looking at my explorer and started to think pokemon thoughts-i had wanted the set after i got the sg originally-and shot my mate an offer and,Boom! Half set!

Ahh yes. I feel like I've seen the LP on TM once long ago, but never the V.

Well I think Malcolm Young is one of the greatest riffmasters of all time. And this may come as surprise, but I think SGs are sexy as fuck.

That said, the V would be my pick!

These finishes are out there! Very cool. Congrats. Def go the V next! SG's are beautiful machines...and once you're locked into the long feeling neck, they're very easy to play.

Yeah finishes are due to it being swamp ash-which is certainly not gibbo's regular jam!
funny thing is i find the small body makes the neck more playable-as opposed to something like the viper, which is ESP's take on the sg.With all guitars for me a crucial part is where the neck join is relative to the centre of your body.Lots of pointies suffer from this offset but the explorer plays like a champ!
