2002 Les Paul Standard Plus Honey Burst

Post by GrantB »

First year of the new tooling which brought the Standard closer to the original. Thin binding around the cutaway, smaller headstock, headstock angle steeper, non-weight relieved one piece body (not a new thing for '02, but the mahogany from 1998-2004 has its own thing - check this one out, no exception), nicer logo, classy tops on the plus. Being a first year it has what looks like Classic 57's but they are BB's. And they sound damn good. I mean, really good.

This one has been played unlike many Japanese guitars. It has an aftermarket bridge that is an ABR but it fits the Nashville base. Interesting. Ben, take note! The tail piece has the locking system also. Pots are CTS and it has some booteek caps in it.Frets have been levelled, properly, but I may refret with tall fellas. Not sure.

Plays great. 4.45kgs. Neck is medium...more 60's than 50's, but gets fatter towards the 12th, so not like a real 60's. A halfway place maybe.

Never been a massive LP guy, but as far as colours go, that's the one.
Nothing to see here.

Got a bit of greening going on. This is quite the guitar...without overstating it, these Burst Bucker Pro's sound great. I'll try and arrange a reasonable tone clip.

Rad! That’s probably a Faber bridge- they do an ABR drop in for Nashville studs spacing.

Interesting. It has a Made in Japan stamp on bottom. Very well made.

That looks awesome. I really like that finish, and the way it has aged.

So nice in fact, I'd even trade it for my 1959 Gibson LP restoration project :-)
