Breaks my heart every time I see it. Such a waste.

It’s barely distinguishable from a modern Gibson off the production line.

I think kit set guitars have come a long way - you could never buy a relic kit before:
Mr Murky, how long ago was this? Do you still have it?

He said he bought in in 2007 (OP) and has been working on it ever since is my guess. I hope he turned it into a 1956 goldtop look alike
When faced with quality, I recognise it every time.

Right.
I feel that a fairly sharp disclaimer should be made at this point.
Like every good rom-com, the “trainwreck” comes about half way through. Thankfully, I don’t have a lot of “in between” photos. But I’m certain what follows will upset some out there - for a variety or reasons. No offence or political statement was/is intended, but if you sit to pee, best turn back now……
What you have to remember is the 2000’s were a different time:

What you have to remember is the 2000’s were a different time:
- Zakk was my hero and was still cool, still had a semi functioning liver, and hadn’t fully transitioned into caveman mode yet.
- My idea of good toan was a Duncan Custom hardwired to the output jack, into an SD1, into a (vertical input) 800. I even had a 4x12 with EVM’s....that I could lift back then.
- Bob Rock still had his hearing, and Metallica were still picking on Newsted.
- 82% of the population still had no idea what a chocolate starfish was.
- Literally no-one gave a $hit about silverbursts, let alone Norlins, especially maple necked Norlins.

As it appears today 14 years later.
EMG's (correctly) installed. Single coil removed - it sounded like arse - toan chamber left in situ for a bit of Malcolm. Piezo bridge also removed and replaced with a Callahan.
Gene @ GSpot did an excellent refret with Dunlop 6100's.
Surprisingly, it all worked out ok. It plays and sounds "great" (EMG's huh...). Neck is straight and stable, action low, truss rod works as it should. Sustains for days - that classic Norlin ring.
Still tossing up wether to set fire to it, and install bottle caps.....

Ahh, your disclaimer and warning needs to be stronger.
