I’m in the same position, years ago my flatmate at the time owned one that was hanging on the wall in the lounge and I played that almost every week for two years and I did enjoy it, been semi open to buying one but never pulled the trigger and I’m pretty sure I just prefer goldfoil pickups in a hollow body hifi/lowfi greasy funk black keys goodness, but I probably just don’t have enough experience with a great Gretsch.null_pointer wrote: ↑Fri Jul 16, 2021 8:10 am I’ve had every major food group of guitar apart from a Gretsch, and for no good reason…have had a number of TV Jones-fitted Teles that I loved. And I’ve always loved the look of Falcons, but I guess visually I’ve always favoured the ES335 in that kinda footprint size…
May revisit…

Here is my old Gretsch
Tube amp and guitar tones straight from 1958… amazing how believable the sounds were back then, even without the modellers...

Had the exact same one. My favourite style of the falcons except it needs a wobble stick.

The ES-335 is a stayer too, everything else is malleable!MattAnt wrote: ↑Fri Jul 16, 2021 10:13 amMan you need a Gretsch in your life. I reckon a Tele and a Gretsch would do me, maybe something with humbuckers too.null_pointer wrote: ↑Fri Jul 16, 2021 8:10 am I’ve had every major food group of guitar apart from a Gretsch, and for no good reason…have had a number of TV Jones-fitted Teles that I loved. Re: Gretsch Love
P-90 for me also has to be on that list. I'm almost there: Strat, Tele, 335, P90. But this thread has confirmed the need for something Gretshcy.MattAnt wrote: ↑Fri Jul 16, 2021 12:35 pmYea those three will do it, get a Filtertron something in there and nothing you can’t donull_pointer wrote: ↑Fri Jul 16, 2021 10:22 amI've got the Suhr T and S, so that's my Tele and Strat sorted.
