So - I ditched the G&G case and used a lighter weight Gator one. Ditched the big guitar box and used one that matched the Gator case perfectly. Resulting drop in volumetric dimensions and weight got it down to $400 to the USA. ie: nearly half the price!

Little tip, volumetric usually is over the weight, 10kg to 5kg made no difference, but shaving off 5cm on length did, so get the box as small as poss

Is it worth shipping US guitars to the US? I always thought they were much cheaper there than here. Is that not so?

They must have access to an incredible pool of used gear.

if you're on bookface, go to marketplace - change location to *whatever state in USA* and search for your dream guitar you may or may not find it

Usually not, but if you have a rare guitar that isn't going to get the value here it can be worth it
