How can you be so passive about such major tonal differences?

I feel like there's a few people in this thread who are fretting over nothing.
Probably because they accidentally picked up the Custom 22 by mistake.

The older I get, the more disappointed in myself I become.

Yeah, that’s good perspective. Many of the PRS users, and endorsers, never use it.

Does this mean that because they dropped of two frets that this version is better suited to drop tuning?Danger Mouse wrote: ↑Thu May 06, 2021 4:47 pm I feel like there's a few people in this thread who are fretting over nothing.

Re: PRS 22 vs 24 - body/neck/pickup position punch-up
Ive been down this route with my builds.
I normally do a 24 fret neck. Why? cos it seems right. you get the high octave and therefore a clean F# or G available as a bend on the high E string...and the neck pickup sounds better when over driven. For clean tones the 22s sound fine.
I did the last 2 builds as 22 fret instruments...and simply moved the Bridge and neck pickup (and interestingly, had to change the neck pocket route. So the Neck pickup route did not change, but the longer neck meant that the angle was slightly different. Enough to make a difference too.

I recall venturing up into the 24th fret once. Didn’t like it much, made me nervous and it frightened the dog (who I assume could actually hear it).
Went straight back down to cowboy chords, 12th fret pentatonic and such. Much safer.

Anything above the third fret is the Devil's work.

24 frets are for the sweaty hairy tatted Nu Metallers. And Carlos Santana.
Normal people play 22 fret models.
That is all I have to say on the matter.
