NGD Dearmond Starfire

Post by StrummersOfThunder »

Finally took possession of this tasty little number.
Early 2000s Dearmond starfire.
Pretty cool thing. Grant as worked hsi magic and done a spectacular refret. Plays great.
Neck isnt wide wide wide like a lot of semi hollows I have played, which appeals to me. Its not a pee shooter tho. Plenty of girth.
Really, Really solid feeling guitar. Def not light but not an anchor.
The pickups are pretty darn cool. I tried em thru both the bandmaster and the tremolux. They seem to sound better thru the black face to me. Really create some cool growl but not fuzzy. With the amp dialed back they have a slightly compressed hi fi sound a bit like a gold foil.
The idea of this guitar is to fill in some of the thicker lead lines in the bull kelp surfers, especially ones that call for some dirt and a bit more sustain.

This is indeed a cool guitar! The wobble-knob is sensitive but very stable.

The wobble knob is a Doozy. They just don't get any better.
Beyond a critical point within a finite space, freedom diminishes as numbers increase. This is as true of humans as it is of gas molecules in a sealed flask. The human question is not how many can possibly survive within the system, but what kind of existence is possible for those who so survive.

I like that. Congrats.

Grant does great fret work. I think he has a time machine to fit it all in. Took me three weeks to rewire a cab.
