Any HSS love around here?
Here's my first foray into HSS Strats. Kept the Seymour Duncan Antiquities in neck and middle, installed Pearly Gates in the bridge, all held together with Obsidian Wire HSS wiring kit. The neck and mid pickups are quite low output, tends to stay clean quite a long way. Flick the switch to bridge, instant raunchy crunch! I'm really loving the PG, it cleans up extremely well for a humbucker too.

Nice. As much as I love most other guitars, I think that combo on a strat is pretty much the most versatile guitar out there.

Yep, I have 4 strat-a-likes. 3 have a humbucker in position 1. One is a warm rails, the others are full humbuckers. If you can split the coils too they make the ultimate gigging guitar.
So, is that low alcohol or no alcohol at all? mmmm, no alcohol, do you want to try it? Noooooooooo.

Yes, it is split, but only in position 2, together with middle pickup. That sounds bloody good too!

Always good to have that option! My black strat isn't split, I should revisit that as its the one with the warm rails I'm sure I can rewire. It does have piezo in the bridge though so its great for those stairway moments, I'll probably confuse myself having 2 push-push tone controls.

Do you miss the position 2 tone though? Or can you still get the quack with HSS?

If you can split, it does a reasonable quack.

Re: Any HSS love around here?
The bridge alone does a reasonable honk. When split in position 2 it's a bit quacky. TBH I can't recall what it sounded like in that position previously. I like what I'm hearing now though.
