Love the Dano story have 3 of their pedals. been very close to buying a guitar. I do love the short scale long horn bass. Rare as over here it seems.
I think its the coke bottle headstock that gets me.

I have a double neck Dano. I agree with some of the Ricky comparisons, it's definitely in the ball park. The Long Horn bass has now gone to a new home

Re: Love/hate for Danelectro
I bought a Dano 59 from a cheeky outlet in Seoul in 2001 (the shop had a direct connection to the factory, so was pretty cheap) as my reintroduction to playing a bit of guitar. Was a nice enough instrument and I enjoyed it's quirks, but I never really connected with it. I'm into jangle, single coils, and interesting guitars, but on a trip back to Australia I saw how much I could sell it for and put it on the chopping block without a second thought.
Not a bad guitar by any means, but to me not something that was particularly outstanding.

I did. Sold at the beginning of August. Always found them to be a cool little bass.
If I'd known I would have offered it up here too. Sorry mate.

No probs, saw 1 when I was in London a couple of years ago and it was 600 pound from memory. At the time I seriously thought about buying it, but cost an arm and a leg to get it back home.
I have always fancied a short scale bass. maybe I should try the Horner copies of the violin type.

I've got a couple of old 60's Hofner 500/1 basses too. A 64 & a 65. They take a bit of getting used to after a longer scale bass, but perfectly usable for a lot of things (not everything though)

i love short scale basses. No good for slap but just about everything else is (as) good
i feel like i'm in Y&T when I play mine

There are still some that think the neck PU is moved to accommodate the extra frets which only proves they cannot detect the difference in length of each.

Yeah, I love them too.
Here's another short scale bass that I think is very cool too.
