Love/hate for Danelectro
This quirky thing keeps me busy...
Had to melt the glue holding the pickguard on to get inside... I like the faded plastics - underside of the truss rod cover for comparison. Gonna rewire it to replace the stacked pots and series pickups with a normal configuration, but man it's amazing if jingle twangle is your sound. I think of it as a strange kitsch dysfunctional cousin of a Gretsch.

I got a dc1959 and through a vox ac15, the middle hum cancelling position chimes like Johnny Marr blowing 1988 John Squire.

Never owned one, always wanted to.
I was close to buying a Jerry Jones reissue some years ago but Bungalow Bill got bored with my playing and suddenly threw me out.
Lost opportunity.

I had one of these older ones a while back. From the late '90s/early '00s, I think. Solid it to a forumite. I'd love to have it back or one like it. Love the bizarre finish.

Yeah I was surprised how the middle position sounds close to a rick (with a big squeeze of compression)
In two minds about making it parallel

Should have bought one when they were $350 new.

I really dig the styling of danelectro stuff, playing to their own beat!

I love the styling of their stuff too. I had this one. It was super cool looking and the neck felt fantastic. It lacked a bit unplugged, but all in all, it was great. I sold i due to having too many guitars - and I wanted to keep my partscasters instead.

I've got maroon dc1959 and a 1963 in orange, odd things. I think the the 59 is still in GADDAD tuning from my Kashmir dabblings.

I love them. Don't have a guitar model atm but have had a longhorn bass for years. Has a bit ( big ) of headstock dive thanks to the proper bass tuners I put on and have to leave a capo on behind the nut to keep the strings in the nut slots but sounds fabulous and is propotionally closer to a guitar.
Last U2 I had I fitted a Tele style bridge with brass barrels which sorted intonation, bridge collapse and gave it even more jangle. It's function has been inherited by a Supro with goldfoils..

Re: Love/hate for Danelectro
I borrowed a friend's cheap Danelectro bass for a few gigs about 10 years ago. It was played and sounded terrible. But I'm sure there are some good ones out there!

Re: Love/hate for Danelectro
I have a couple of the 90s ones. A DC3 in silver leaf and a Hodad baritone with Seymour Duncans. The baritone changes colour depending on the light. It's either a sort of off white (sorta like a Milky Bar colour) and it turns a sort of dark pink.
They're more of a copy of the originals than the present day ones, they have the tape and the trussrod that you can only access by taking the neck off.
I really love both of them.
