Yeah I'm sure price must have something to do with their popularity

Kinda like comparing a Samick to a PRS

The feel of an LP around your neck is pretty sweet. They really are a great rock'n'roll guitar for any sound on the punchy and gritty side of things

One bonus is no longer need to sleep with a Les Paul round my neck as nowadays my back already hurts when I get out of bed

I like the boat anchor tone.

My LP smashes my back, but its also the best playing and sounding of my guitars, so sometimes worth it?

Not sure why anyone is responding defensively to the thread title - the video is pretty pro-Les Paul.

Good ones are not that heavy though. Solid body CS reissues are often lighter than weight-relieved cheaper ones.
Amps:
Soldano SLO100 x2 | Wizard MC1 & MC2 | Diezel Herbert
Fryette Pittbull CL | Marshall 2203KK | Krank Rev 50 | Mesa Mark 2A

Rack stuff:
VHT/Fryette GP3, GP/DI & 2/90/2 | Peters FSM/Chimera
Verellen Meatsmoke | Synergy SYN1 | Mesa Studio

My 1996 R0, which I sold, weighed about 8lbs, or about the same as a strat. It had no weight relief.

However my 2000 CS LP Elegant weighs about 9lbs, and it has weight relief.

Gibson hides away the quality light mahogany and only uses it on the expensive ones. Yet for some reason they put the heavy timber in my Elegant.
In life, don't sweat the petty stuff, and don't pet the sweaty stuff.

I had the chance to play on a couple of nice PRS recently, along with a couple of other guitars well above my pay grade, and none of them felt as right as my LP does.

But then that single cut in your profile pic always makes me wonder if there's room in the cupboard for one.
