Jansen reviews

Hello there,

Curious about Jansen guitars, especially vintage vs. reissue Jazzmans.

How are the build quality and sound?
Chinese parts or fabricated locally?
How's their reputation been over the years? Interested in their playability rather than historical value..

There's something cool about quirky locally made gear. I was kind of keen on one when I was looking for a guitar a month or so back, but couldn't try one out due to the lockdown (and reissue colours were fugly).

Cheers

There was a recent thread on this, general consensus is they're quite good or they're awful. Make of that what you will :D

But why? There's a heap of good ones that come out of Auckland in that colour! They must be good or they wouldn't have sold! :mental:

The reissues I played were OK. If you like a garage band vibe, they were pretty good.
Definitely Asian manufacture hence no historical value at all. Playability of the new ones is good.... better than the Invader I learned on.

There's nothing wrong with this product. In fact, at recent prices, it's a good deal. Just accept you're buying a Kiwi flavoured, Asian guitar and nationalistic bragging rites are not included in the price.

Wouldnt it be cool if times were such that it was profitable for them to make one here ?
