Looks like I'll get one of those Obsidian wire setups then!
Although the changes to shipping today may mean I have to wait 4 weeks to receive it. That's really going to put a downer on projects at home eh? Oh well
I put my last set of strings on to see how it plays and pretty happy with the feel of it, sounds good too, just really quiet.

If it's an American digging on line tells me it will have a poly coat. Mixed review regarding buffing the paint back to 'relic' on a poly coat
Anyone here have any experiences?

I’ve had a bit of a scratch at the dings in the paint. Definitely poly and kinda wish I hadn’t bothered but I’m getting the hang of working with it

Have exposed wood in a few places, do you put a light sealant over it or leave it bare?

I was going to try to tidy up the cracked headstock but I kinda like it’s slightly crooked glue job

I've tried tidying up and linking the actual damage on the guitar, and took the neck back to a few bare spots. It's hard to know when to stop.
First time having a go at this so any feedback? How's it look?
More or less to go any where?

Take a look at some Custom Shop relics. I've no idea how much like an actual old and worn guitar they are (I think there are no so many relics about we'd likely look at a genuine pre-CBS and think it was a fake...) but they do look and feel good.

Maybe don't even worry about the relic thing. Maybe just focus on making it sound, play and feel its best.

Thanks for the advice Molly. When are we going to see your strat start coming together?

I’ve order an Obsidian Wire, so now I’m on the prowl for pickups. HSS format.
Looking Gilmour ish to classic rock.
Read online about ssl5 fir the neck and bridge, something with a bit of poke in the bridge.
What are your fav’s, and whats cheap on trademe :)

My parts will be on the way from Danny shortly. I've made this drop-in with decent parts and CS69 pickups. Will swap it over to the aged 'guard on the incoming MJT. Fingers crossed it all adds up to a decent guitar.

Don't remember, sorry. Had it years.

With the 69 set remember the middle one isn't reverse wound and the bridge is no hotter than the others.

Obsidian wiring harness arrived. Looks amazing! Now I'm on the prowl for pickups. Anyone got anything they want to move?
