Hi
Government minister is advocating a global recession is now almost certain, and I have been observing our NZ$ value dropping daily.
I'm not an economist, hence why I want to ask, is it better to scramble and buy a few items I want now internationally - if a global recession hits, our currency value most likely drops further, but will prices of gear reduce as well, or most likely remain as is, making it even more expensive?
Thanks
Purchasing internationally & incoming global recession?

I imagine prices will drop as businesses struggle to make ends meet, but primarily you should try supporting the local businesses first as the pricing will will be drawing much closer and it may help keep many of them afloat.
In terms of stuff you can't get locally, I'd be biding my time to see what happens in 2-3 months time when things settle down, there may be some good sales ahead!

Or maybe getting more expensive just like how Fender and Gibson raise their prices every other year.jeremyb wrote:I imagine prices will drop as businesses struggle to make ends meet

Well if it's a global recession everyone's currency drops so it'll work out the same. The USD is slipping slightly and will probably get worse over the next month until it stabilises.

I've just struck a deal on a new motorbike that was much better than I was expecting. I wonder if that's something to do with anything or nothing to do with something.
