NGD, you'll either love or hate it!

I've loaned my Cort 335 to a friend in need of a loaner guitar, so the past couple of weeks I've been without a backup electric, which has been slightly nerve wracking.

Spotted this rather flamboyant Strat on TardeMe and decided to give it a try.

This is a 2014-ish Squier Classic Vibe 60's Strat in Burgundy Mist Metallic, (it's more pink that anything else) with a garish matching headstock and aged plastic bits. My daughter thinks it is amazing:

These are more or less the top end of the Squier range, and surprisingly it's really good. The body carve feels slightly different to a lot of cheap Strats I've played - it feels slimmer and slightly more refined somehow. Neck has a nice shape to it but has a heavy gloss finish, which might get sticky as they can sometimes. Pickups sound great, very Strat-y.
Frets are pretty good, no sharp edges but they could do with a polish as it doesn't look like the guitar has been played much.

Action was awful and strings possibly years old, but I did some tweaks (had forgotten how fiddly it is to set up a guitar with a trem) and it plays well and sounds really good.

Moral to the story is that china is churning out some really good guitars and if you can get over the name on the headstock there are some sweet affordable guitars. Classic Vibes are well worth checking out

What's not to like, a good guitar and a happy kid. Nice one.

Hate it. But only because the pickguard screws have the wrong aging for that colour.

Not a Rickenbacker?

A suprise, to be sure, but a welcome one.

that is exactly what I asked myself....I check latest listings every day and did not see this. Must be a better option than "latest listings" I guess
