Stratocaster info

Post by MrDINO »

Just wondering if anyone knows about ‘ Dan Smith’ era Stratocasters. Sorry if this has been gone over before. On the hunt for another decent Strat so I’ll guess I’ll join the line.

Over rated, in that they exhibit nothing better than current CS Fender in my view.

Edit: sometimes worse too.

It's hard to imagine they're any better than the present crop of regular Strats. I think Fender have their QC down and if you find one you like among the rest of the range there's really no need to go Custom Shop.

Not that you need 'slum it' entirely but that Mexi I just bought is one of the most playable Strats I've ever owned. The neck fit could be better and the body doesn't have the deep, vintage contours I like. But the weight is good and as a wee project guitar I think it'd be hard to beat. Anyway, just saying, don't dismiss them out of hand if the chance comes along. The Baja Tele is another good example now I come to think of it.

Conway's selling an Elite I believe. Might be worth investigating.

Nope. Over priced and no redeeming features over a normal deluxe IMO :)
