Oscar Moore Nocaster

Post by robthemac »

I was listening to some Nat King Cole last night, ended up going down a bit of an internet spiral that lead me to possibly the sexiest Fender I have ever seen: Oscar Moore's '51 Nocaster. I never was a huge fan of white guitars or gold hardware, but wow, my boat is certainly floated in this case.

I was thinking how you'd get this look. I agree that it might look a bit naff new. I wonder if an Olympic White nitro finish was exposed to enough smoke (and even a little bit of dilute iodine) it might darken and yellow. The gold hardware would need some serious work to get rid of the shine. I don't know what you'd do about the pickguard. Apparently it's gold paint on the bottom of a clear pickguard. Again, has potential to look absolutely rubbish.

Could see what Mr Whitfill thinks...

I traded my Tele for a Strat a few weeks ago and am getting itchy for some twang. Can't afford it just yet, and I am always slightly suspicious about buying before trying.

But yes, I want a Tele. Thinking Custom Shop or booteek.

They keep telling me tone is in the fingers, but I have yet to see a "look at my fingers" thread.
