Where to buy fancy strings from?
I'm looking for the best place to get strings - like the orange pack of Pyramids or a 10 gauge flatwound pack with an unwound G string, or a pack of John Pearse for the Lowden that sort of thing, cheap fast delivery etc

Not sure if they stock what you’re looking for sorry but I get all my strings from stringsandbeyond.com. They’ve always been great to deal with, and their prices are pretty extraordinary

Re: Where to buy fancy strings from?
I added 5 packs of strings and shipping came out at $13 USD on strings and beyond, I'm wondering how many packs of strings can you add until postage goes up? Like is there a magic number where buying strings from oversea's becomes most economical. I held off the purchase, going to share shipping costs with a mate so waiting for him to add to the order.

No magic number as far as I can tell, I buy strings for Tiples, Mandolins and Ukeleles from juststrings and shipping is generally around US$25. The latest bill

Re: Where to buy fancy strings from?
Yeah I’ve found so and I’ve been buying almost all my strings from them for a couple if years now. They do free international shipping a couple times a year so generally I aim to do my bulk buys then. The last order I made was for 25 sets of Martin SP types strings. With shipping it came to about $190NZD.MrDINO wrote:Hi Simon. It likely works slightly better if you’re buying more packets when paying for shipping but the savings are still very high. I worked out the equivalent amount of sets at NZ rrp would have been just under $500ish.

Strings and beyond for me. Every couple of months they do free global shipping so I load up and save a ton.

I normally buy bulk packs of elixirs when the rockshop has a sale, or strings and beyond if I'm organised enough to order when they have free international shipping.

Re: Where to buy fancy strings from?
Thanks for the Strings & Things heads-up. Just ordered ten sets of EB Mega Slinky 10.5-48.
Re: Where to buy fancy strings from?
Occasionally I’ll buy a pack or two off TM, but the shipping usually negates any discount you might get off them in the first place
I usually just pick up the D’addario triple packs from the Rockshop, I think with strings it’s good to support our local stores

Re: Where to buy fancy strings from?
I just landed a set of D'Addario Phosphor Bronze Flat Tops for my acoustic. I was using Elixir's but found them to be too squeaky. The Flat Tops are much quieter & still warm and bright.
