I used to put a strip of masking tape on the back of my headstocks to note string changes, gauges, tunings e.t.c.
I've stopped since I realised a lot of those dates are from 2015!

3 1/2 years since my last string change. Which I paid Bg to do.
The older I get, the more disappointed in myself I become.

But it’s only the wound strings that are coated, is it not?

Nope. It's all.

Elixirs are the nicest coated strings to play. I have some ghs coated boomers from my last string order. They suck. Very scratchy feeling.

I run Eixirs too... they last years and sound great.

Optiweb - most natural and brightest - I use these now.
Nanoweb - not so bright and a little smoother, less string noise, I used to use these before Optiweb were released.
Polyweb - warm sounding and very smooth - I don't use these, these are older tech.
Tube amp and guitar tones straight from 1958… amazing how believable the sounds were back then, even without the modellers...

Yep Elixirs are the way to go if you have lots of guitars.... I used to not play one for 6 months or so and pick it up and it would feel and play like something in the Rockshop.....

Pro tip:

If you buy and sell guitars frequently enough you don't need to change strings at all!

Going for the Peter Green/Gary Moore look there with the two top hat knobs and the reverse neck pickup? If so the pick wear will only add to the vibe.
