Agreed - has Knopfler oozing out of it! It rings out like a bell too...and with that slightly hotter bridge pickup you can drive amps a bit harder without losing Strat vibe. It's a great guitar, glad you're using it.Molly wrote: ↑Sat Jun 12, 2021 7:14 pm I guess I should include this one. Hope Grant doesn't mind me reusing one of his pics.
Body is Korina. Made by G&B in the UK (https://guitarandbassbuilds.com/). Neck is AllParts. It's the fattest 'D' neck I've ever encountered. Massive. Pickups are from Q Pickups in Croatia (that well known hotbed of Texas tone - https://www.qpickups.com). Nice aged guard and an especially good finish. It was put together and thin-nitro painted by GrantB. It's the nicest colour when you see it in the flesh. Weighs just under 8.5 lbs. Sounds nothing like my ash / maple '54 reissue (as you might expect). Great for Sayce overdriven tones and Knopfler cleans.

Going for some sort of Brian May thing? Tri-sonics and a bunch of switches for phases etc?

Somebody on here had a sea foam green AllParts strat, which they bought about 8 months ago. Could you please post pics?

Rubbish bin works better for those.

Re: Show us your Stratocasters!
This is a first production year (2005) Eric Johnson Strat.
When I found it used in Singapore in 2016, it had a 3 ply pickguard (stock is single ply), Callaham block/bar and string trees.
It currently sports Suhr Thornbucker+ and V60Lp pickups and a 4 pole 5 way switch that allows fully custom assignment of the tone knobs.
I like Tone 1 to service postions 2-5 and Tone 2 for posistion 1 (Humbucker only).
The Humbucker sees the 500K volume pot and the Singles see 250k via a 470k resistor engaged in parallel.
Also has 6100 jumbo frets installed by Mr Glyn.

I'd appreciate it if you didn't post photos of me in public forums.
Even if I do look extremely hot.

At some point I'll do pretty photos of my guitars - but I haven't yet!
So here's my Strats:
First up, my '63 Next, my Xotic siblings And my Tyler (non-identical) twins

While you're waiting....
Beyond a critical point within a finite space, freedom diminishes as numbers increase. This is as true of humans as it is of gas molecules in a sealed flask. The human question is not how many can possibly survive within the system, but what kind of existence is possible for those who so survive.

Re: Show us your Stratocasters!
Two of the three Strat brands I've always wanted! (Third is LsL and I know you've had those too).
How do the Tyler and Xotics (and LsL) compare?

Re: Show us your Stratocasters!
I always regretted not buying a CV LSL strat that I played in Melbourne. It was great. I've owned two LSL teles. Neither inspired me.
Xotics are awesome. Probably my favourite playing strat. I prefer them over the Tylers, although the Tylers are also awesome so I recognise its more a matter of what appears subjectively to me as opposed to which of Xotic vs Tyler is objectively "better". The Tylers definitely are exceedingly well made, especially their necks and fingerboards which do feel fantastic.
The gold Tyler is probably the least favourite to me, simply because the neck is a bit beefier than my preference. That's why I ought to sell it
Edit: I also have an Xotic tele which is beautiful but I find myself grabbing either of my '72 or '73 teles in preference to it. Which shows that actually at the end of the day much of the question is how a particular guitar speaks to you.

Re: Show us your Stratocasters!
She's back. Decided to heed all your suggestions and get some strings put on it. Because I wouldn't have the first idea how to go about that, I sent it to Grant.
He also tidied up some frets and a few other things. Plays like a dream. Or so I'm told. She's a fantastic leaning guitar.
