Seriously??? Why even bother with the binding then!

I bought one of those when I was 14. Didn't have a Bigsby but it cost me $320 second hand. It was the only Gibson cheap enough for me to afford. I played it through a hideous home made S/S amp and to this day, I have no idea what it really sounded like.

Swapped it for a drum kit when I was 16. Dumb move, regret it.

i like this concept and the look, never played one though, but heard Les use his and it sounded great.

To be fair, they're simply doing a reissue of the guitar that was the personal favorite of the man who gave it its name. Nothing wrong with that.

Check out the comments; there's clearly a lot of love for that model.

Personally I think Gibson should stick to recreating their classics and leave innovation to PRS or Ibanez. Some may disagree, but really, guitar technology peaked in the 60s didn't it?

Not sure about about the peak timing (Floyd, scalloped boards, active pickups, Sustainer etc etc) but Gibson is useless at meaningful innovation...it's because they don't have guitar players running the company.

I think that's the problem with a lot of the brands really.... but Gibson seems to be championing the trend.

Agree about them sticking to the 'classics' though... I mean, you like a LP or SG because that's what it is right?

And I suppose Ted McCarty and Leo never played guitars....but somehow they knew what guitarists wanted.

Anyway, break a leg Gibson. I'm not a "buying new" customer of yours...

Doesn't phase me one way or the other. I'm not looking for innovation; obviously, some (a lot of?) people are, and that's cool. I go for a sound I first heard 35 years ago, so innovation not required.

As far as this axe - not my cuppa. As long as nobody's holding a gun to my head forcing me to buy one, all is right with the world. It's all about choice; the more, the better. A company that meets market demands will thrive; companies that don't will go the way of the dinosaur.
