The back of that neck, and most Fender CS guitars, just looks awful.
It Amazes me but much of the Fender Custom Shop production run relicing might best be described as ham fisted. A bald-to-the-timber patch right where your forearm rests on the body was infinitely improbable before the invention of the orbital sander.

Must be difficult when you snap off the headstock and can't remember where it attached to the guitar.
