Ah yes, a Les Paul that is traditional, like the name suggests. My favourite vintage Les Pauls have blue finishes and robotic tuners.

Copied straight from the Yamaha SG series. At least the latter has the strings going through the nut at a more realistic angle - 0 degrees

Can’t really see that myself. Reminds me more of the MusicMan St Vincent that got some good publicity a few years back. Either way, play authentic

Ah that's what it reminds me of!

It would have been more obvious if it was painted black, I'm 99.99% sure all Westones were black.

I recall the sandy coloured ones the most. Garbage but a step in the right direction for budget guitars after the Grant Les Paul etc. copies that the Littlewoods catalog sold.

I think Ibanez and Washburn did a lot for cheap guitars. Maybe Ibanez especially. Then the first Squiers came along. They were bloody good.

It may have been the local importer in NZ that got in all the black Westones. There were a few dotted around in the early days of my guitar playing, mates had them, I can remember a couple in the local guitar shop, all of them black. This was only just pre-Ibanez and Washburn time though, they came out maybe a year or two after I started playing seriously. My RG440 (which I still have) I got on special as the RG5** range had just been released and my brother and his mates all had Washburns, they'd started playing a couple of years after me and Washburn was the go to beginner brand by then.

That was a great response to the unobtainable Jackson/Charvel offerings and I bet Ibanez landed some lifelong customers out of them. I had quite a few configurations of the range. None of us minded the scarf joint (probably cry foul if our PRS had such a thing).
