I went to an work function one time and they had an ABBA tribute. The guy had a capo halfway up the neck and was doing all his non-chords behind the capo. That was a bit hard to watch. But it was just a prop.

I've never been involved in a music video, but synching up visuals and sound must be a nightmare. I'm always amazed how so many pros really do look like they're singing and playing what you're hearing.
They keep telling me tone is in the fingers, but I have yet to see a "look at my fingers" thread.

It's a pretty well trodden path. There's a PA on set playing the song when they film them. Multiple cameras, multiple takes etc, then the video editor locks them all on their timeline and then everything is in sync. At least, that's what the good ones do. Miming a song is a weird experience. I've only done it a couple of times- it was super awkward.

Yesterday we were doing Christmas dinner with sister-in-law, niece in law (or whatever the term is) and her husband.

Husband suddenly says "Hey, Vince! YOU'RE into guitars! Show you this guitar my uncle made for me from Swamp Kauri!!"

It looked ballpark similar to this one.

I couldn't remember the name "Lang" though so I have no idea if it's a coincidence. I'll have to get the details from him next time.

NZ is a small place, eh?
