Update...
Tube amp and guitar tones straight from 1958… amazing how believable the sounds were back then, even without the modellers...

Not really, the Laney is really nice and works well at home.

Do you find with a small-ish low watt amp, that the sound suffers from having the amp up on a shelf? I find personally that I think my combos sound slightly better when they are directly on the floor.

I find the opposite, if it’s pointing at my shins it never sounds as goodrickenbackerkid wrote: ↑Fri Apr 08, 2022 11:51 am Do you find with a small-ish low watt amp, that the sound suffers from having the amp up on a shelf? Yep. On the floor with tilt-back is where it's at for me.rickenbackerkid wrote: ↑Fri Apr 08, 2022 11:51 am Do you find with a small-ish low watt amp, that the sound suffers from having the amp up on a shelf? It seems fine on that shelf because it's pretty low, being in the corner probably makes more difference, can emphasise the Bass a bit if I'm not careful.rickenbackerkid wrote: ↑Fri Apr 08, 2022 11:51 am Do you find with a small-ish low watt amp, that the sound suffers from having the amp up on a shelf? Re: Show us your whole setup....
The hi-fi guys think stands and shelves are incredibly important. I think it makes a difference if something is too close to a wall or on a shelf/stand that isn't entirely stable. But other than that, meh.sizzlingbadger wrote: ↑Sat Apr 09, 2022 6:42 amIt seems fine on that shelf because it's pretty low, being in the corner probably makes more difference, can emphasise the Bass a bit if I'm not careful.rickenbackerkid wrote: ↑Fri Apr 08, 2022 11:51 am Do you find with a small-ish low watt amp, that the sound suffers from having the amp up on a shelf? I have a very strong plastic shot glass that I put front & centre underneath my combo's, just enough to angle it slightly upwardsrickenbackerkid wrote: ↑Fri Apr 08, 2022 11:51 am Do you find with a small-ish low watt amp, that the sound suffers from having the amp up on a shelf? No, I could run it with a D-Class amp but I use it as a bass cab, it works very nicely Running the Bugera, to the left of it, into it.
