'63 Jr must be a great little guitar to own and play. I played a '62 Jr in Denmark St Guitars in London. I wanted to buy it, but didn't want to lug it around for the rest of the trip.
Just remove the neck?

My '64 JR felt super light to play, and had that real single coil twang. The '63 is beefier sound wise.

Oh, thanks Grant, now someone's going to be asking for a dedicated "Figurines and dried gourds" thread.

I just wasn't in a position to buy it. I enquired about it when I got back, but it had sold. Polaris white, player grade. I bought a Maestro ps-1a phase shifter there though.

That's a beauty. The Juniors have a bite to them. Folks back then didn't realise how good they had it.
Joking about the neck! Yeah, man, my life has been full of “wasn’t in a position” (shhh jb), so I feel your pain (also ssshhh jb).
I had a player 63 Polaris White Special too - sold here somewhere? Who has it now?
Anyway, back to your awesome gear. What pups did they put in the 64 RI?

Unpotted Custombucker Alnico III. They're really articulate - the note definition is there. There's just no mud there, although I don't use much gain on my amp (gain under 2 on the amp).
Thanks. Not sure when it was taken but yes, it looks to be the Autumn one. My wife teaches at the Steiner school here in Hamilton.

That white Special might've gone to Steve. He has one with some staining from the case.
