ANGD

Post by Molly »

Another new guitar day....

Spied one of these Limted Edition Cabronitas for sale on-behalf at the local music shop. Was a lot cheaper than the example below and looked wholly unplayed. Anyway, before I could even say TV Jones my card was on the counter. Decent size neck was the clincher.

This is the actual guitar:

This is an eBay example. Nice G&G case.

That's tasty mate. I'm a big fan of those pickups and a 50s style telecaster is just the right platform for them.
1935 Martin D-45, 1942 Gibson Southern Jumbo,1950 Fender Broadcaster, 1954 Fender Strat, 1958 Gibson Moderne prototype, 1959 Gibson Les Paul Standard.
1958 Fender twin, 1965 Vox AC30, 1966 Marshall JTM 45, 1977 Dumble OD Special.
Big black garbage bag full of original Klon Centaurs and TS808s.

I had a parts-caster jobbie with the same setup a few years ago. It found its way to Reg who did a great job customising / finishing it. This is a bit anemic-looking I suppose. I could always nitro it Surf Green :-)

I remember that one, cool guitar. Had a nice fat neck on it. Chuck a bigsby on the new one, that'll help out the looks!

Such a cool looking gat those Cabronitas.

+ 1 for Surf Green.

A big improvement for looks would be one of those vintage half-cut Tele bridges, like this:

Nothing to see here.

I like that. I'd need to check the ferrules lined-up such that it'd still intonate but it would look much better.

Another brilliant score Brian. Please bring them home, NZ needs more guitars like these.

Years ago I tried putting a vintage-style bridge on a more modern Tele. Discovered that the string holes were in the wrong position (too far forward or back - not sure which now) so when the new bridge was positioned the guitar wouldn't have been able to intonate. Hopefully no such issues with the Cabronita. I did see that owners of Mexican Cabronitas routinely change their bridge for one with different spacing so that hints that a change over would be possible.

Those American Cabronitas are an extremely limited edition; only 150 of each colour IIRC. Might be smart not to 'improve' it.
