NGD: Gibson R8 Historic
I can rest the blame for this one squarely at the forum - damn Ishibashi thread got me drooling after this.
Liquidated a few pieces of studio gear to get this, it shipped on Christmas Day from Japan and arrived today.
Action was set super low, I raised it a bit to work well with my Strat accustomed hands.
Really impressed by the range of fatness and clarity on offer, makes for a very pleasant experience.
Thanks to GrantB for letting me pick his brains about Gibson Historics!

That is a really nice Christmas toy you bought there. Congratulations.
Must be worthy of playing the Green Manalishi

When faced with quality, I recognise it every time.

If that is plugged straight in, then who needs pedals - just think how much money could be saved!

The guitar looks great, time to change your username to "sunburstlespaulblues'

Congrats. Super cool.
On top of that with all the hassles with freight that was super fast shipping.

Once you start accumulating multiple amps it appears pedals may actually be cheaper

BurstPaulBlues - my friends coined that when I showed them the pics

Personally I think Lazyboy may be more appropriate, after playing Strats for years, it seems this guitar does half the work

Re: NGD: Gibson R8 Historic
Don’t remind me! Thankfully a mini studio gear sale paid for most of it.
